The air was very still,
Patient as the time flew,
My thoughts racing from side to side,
And my intentions mightily grew,
The odds were against me,
My end growing near,
I held my life close,
And all of those I hold dear,
The dice were rolled,
The dealer had dealt,
But I couldn't help but wonder,
Just how good it might've felt,
The cards were minuscule,
Only to your wondrous smile,
My heart torn with great glee,
But to find you had taken a long while.
